When I Think of Child Development
Play is so crucial in the lift of a child, but it is not often viewed as such. Many people don't realize that a child's brain is growing and learning while it is experiencing with play. Social skills, problem-solving, perseverance, concentration, attention span, and so much more. Play is a way to teaching to the whole child and helping them to become more powerful learners in academics.
First of all, I love everything about Maria Montessori and her methods. I love the way that Montessori schools are run, so much self-teaching going on! Secondly, this quote speaks so much to me. Early childhood is a crucial time in a child's life. Social skills, responsibility, respectfulness, and so much more are initiated in childhood, helping children make their steps in the right direction in life.

Hello Lea Ann:
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed reading your posting relating to play. I read in a book that children sometimes think of play as work. I have found play to be an essential part of a child's development. Nice job.

Lea Ann,
ReplyDeleteI used that same quote in my own blog by Diane Ackerman. It is so true in that play is a child's way of learning. Play provides so many ways for a child to further their development on multiple platforms. That is so interesting that you used Maria Montessori as a reference. I recently came across a Montessori school in my area and I am blown away by their methods. It is truly inspiring and my beliefs have never aligned more with an educational platform. The belief to develop the whole child within their own self-driving and self-exploration is so gratifying. More schools should focus on the whole child, not just academics.
